| Hope Gibbons b 1966 Contemporary painter Matakana, New Zealand Hope Gibbons is a contemporary New Zealand painter with works held in private collections here and throughout the world She paints full-time in her Matakana studio overlooking native bush and lush green paddocks plus the ever-changing views of Sandspit harbour. The current body of works explores the materiality of paint - it pushes the boundaries of traditional painting practice and techniques. It exploits the use of stains, inks, leaf and varnish.
